United States
The books, the documents, and an API you can build on.
For a US business KRONENWERK is a double-entry ledger with invoices, estimates, expenses, bills, payments and reports — multi-currency, ready for several entities, and addressable from outside. What it expressly is not: a sales-tax service.
-
A general ledger, not a list of invoices
Every transaction is carried as a posting, periods are closed, posted entries stay put and are corrected by reversal. The reports come out of the same ledger as the documents — there is no second set of figures to drift apart from the first.
-
Several entities, kept separate
Holding company, operating company and the one that does not have a name yet: each with its own books, its own country and its own currency, operated together through a switcher and one overview. There is deliberately no figure that adds two entities together.
-
The API as a product, not an afterthought
Keys with per-resource scopes, idempotency, named errors instead of anonymous status codes, signed and retried webhooks published from real business events — and an MCP endpoint for AI agents working under those same rights. All of it is documented in the developer area before you pay anything.
What KRONENWERK does not do in the US
Not a sales-tax service. That is the most important sentence on this page.
- No sales-tax determination. Whether you must collect, and at what rate, depends on your nexus and on the taxing jurisdiction — of which there are thousands. KRONENWERK computes with the rate you enter and does not supply it.
- No filing with any federal or state authority, no payroll, and no US chart of accounts shipped.
- For the United States the country module makes no substantive check of invoice content: there is no federal sales tax and no federally mandated invoice particular to check against. Identifier validation is the one capability it declares.
- No European e-invoicing formats on US documents. The machinery for ZUGFeRD and Peppol UBL lives in the same building — a US seller still never sees it, because it means nothing to them.
Asked and answered
The questions that come before the decision.
-
Does KRONENWERK calculate my sales tax?
No. KRONENWERK computes with the rate you supply; it does not determine whether or where you must collect. Anyone who needs rate determination across states and localities needs a service dedicated to that.
-
Can I drive my accounting through the API?
Yes, on the Enterprise plan and the practice plan. Keys carry per-resource scopes, writes are idempotent, and webhooks are signed and retried. The documentation is open before you decide.
The other countries
Six countries, six different answers.
What KRONENWERK can do follows from the country module, not from marketing copy. Each of these pages says the same thing twice for its country: what is there, and what is not.

What runs today
This block is computed from the running product, not written by hand. Where the text above says otherwise, this block is what applies.
"Ready" means: every mandatory invoicing process KRONENWERK implements for this country can be completed. It does not mean every tax of every region is covered — that is what the "Tax rules" line is for.
