France
An invoice the reform accepts — and books standing behind it.
KRONENWERK produces the structured invoice the French reform requires — Factur-X as a PDF/A-3 with embedded XML, or plain CII to EN 16931 — validates it before it leaves and reads what arrives. Underneath sits a complete set of books: expenses, bills, general ledger, reports.
-
Factur-X and CII, to EN 16931
Factur-X is the default: a PDF your customer opens, with the CII XML inside it that their software reads. Where plain XML is required, KRONENWERK produces CII to EN 16931. Both are formats the reform recognises as a structured invoice.
-
Validated on the way out, read on the way in
Every file produced is checked against the rules that apply to it; an invoice that fails is explained rather than issued. In the other direction KRONENWERK recognises incoming files from the files themselves — hybrid PDF, CII or UBL — and reports what is missing from them.
-
French VAT and the required particulars
French rates, the statutory exemption wording and validation of French identifiers all live in the country module. Invoice numbers follow a traceable rule, retention periods follow the French requirements, and a posted line is never overwritten: it is reversed and reissued.
-
Not just invoices: the whole operation
Estimates that become invoices; expenses and supplier bills with their documents; payments and reminders; recurring invoices; multiple currencies; reports drawn from the same ledger. Anyone looking only for invoicing software finds more than they came for — and pays nothing extra for it on the cheapest plan.
Transmission
Where KRONENWERK stops and your platform begins.
The French reform requires invoices to travel through an accredited platform — called a plateforme agréée since 2025, previously a PDP. The free state route through the Portail public de facturation was abandoned in October 2024; the portal survives as a directory and data hub, not as a sending route. KRONENWERK is not an accredited platform: it produces and validates the file your platform then carries. Only where a delivery transport is explicitly configured for your installation does the French module declare national transmission at all.
What KRONENWERK does not do in France
- KRONENWERK is not an accredited platform and does not seek accreditation on your behalf. Choosing your platform is your decision.
- No French chart of accounts is shipped. KRONENWERK does not bring a plan comptable général; a chart of accounts ships for Germany only today.
- No reporting of transaction or payment data to the administration. What the reform calls e-reporting travels through your platform, not through KRONENWERK.
- No tax advice, and no signed-off bank connection. Reconciliation is built but cleared with no provider.
Asked and answered
The questions that come before the decision.
-
From when does electronic invoicing become compulsory in France?
Since 1 September 2026 every business must be able to RECEIVE electronic invoices; that duty is in force. Issuing has applied from the same day to large companies and ETI, e-reporting included. Small and medium-sized companies and micro-businesses follow on 1 September 2027. The administration's published calendar governs, not this page.
-
Is KRONENWERK an accredited platform (PDP)?
No. KRONENWERK produces and validates the structured invoice and keeps the books; transmission is handled by the accredited platform you work with.
-
Does KRONENWERK produce Factur-X?
Yes — a PDF/A-3 with embedded CII XML to EN 16931, validated before the file exists. KRONENWERK can also produce plain CII XML.
-
Can I buy KRONENWERK in France?
Yes. Before you buy, KRONENWERK shows what is covered for France and what is not — in particular that transmission runs through your accredited platform for as long as no delivery transport is configured for your installation.
-
Is KRONENWERK available in French?
Yes, both the interface and the documents. The French edition is also read in Belgium and Canada; which law a business is under is chosen separately from the language.
The other countries
Six countries, six different answers.
What KRONENWERK can do follows from the country module, not from marketing copy. Each of these pages says the same thing twice for its country: what is there, and what is not.
